Deploy prayers to combat insecurity, COAS Faruk Yahaya tells soldiers

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major-General Farouk Yahaya

Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff, has charged Nigerian soldiers to seek spiritual help in the war against banditry, insurgency and other forms of insecurity across the country.

Mr Yahaya urged troops “to compliment Nigerian Army’s kinetic engagements with spiritual efforts, such as counselling, guidance and divine supplications in ongoing military operations across the nation.”

Represented by Maj. Gen Victor Ezugwu the COAS made the comment on Monday during an Interdenominational church service to commemorate Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2022, according to army spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu.

The church service was held at Saint Mark Military Church (Protestant), 34 Brigade Obinze Barracks, Owerri, Imo State.

The COAS was quoted to have further charged the army with “promoting National Unity through Religious Tolerance and Peaceful Coexistence.” He also urged Christians to compliment the army efforts in surmounting Nigeria’s security challenges.
