It’s always nice when the Mortal Kombat team gets to mess around with more creative finishers again like Babalities and Friendship, so having Animalities return after around 25 years is certainly a welcome addition to the newest entry in the franchise.
After dropping the launch trailer for Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns earlier today, NetherRealm Studios apparently wasn’t done with reveals for the new expansion considering they just teased and revealed a new Animality too.
This latest showcase is for princess Kitana, who fully embraces her avian spirit animal and uses it for pure violence.
After transforming, the smaller hummingbird starts flying around Mileena at a faster and faster pace poking holes through her torso like a pin cushion until Kitana delivers a final hit to the head — causing her sister to split open like a demented flower.
The bird then drinks from the blood fountain like it’s just a regular feeder.
It appears as though NRS likely plans to continue teasing more Animality reveals in the final days leading up to the big update coming to MK1 alongside the expansion, considering they did the same last night for Smoke’s gorilla form.
The latest trailer gave us Liu Kang’s Phoenix and Sub-Zero’s mammoth as well as more looks at ones we’ve previously seen before like Noob Saibot’s crocodile from his own trailer.
There’s still around half the cast we don’t know about yet, however, including General Shao, Reptile, Raiden, Sindel, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage and all of the previous DLC characters.
Every kombatant in MK1 is confirmed to be receiving an Animality in the upcoming update for free alongside new moves, balance changes, and modes that may have already leaked.
There is of course the paid content in the Khaos Reigns package too with the additional Story Mode plus Cyrax, Sektor and Noob as new fighters at launch along with Ghostface, the Terminator’s T-1000 and Conan the Barbarian coming sometime in the future as well.
You can check out the full version of Kitana’s Animality below ahead of the Khaos Reigns expansion release set for just under a week on September 24 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
