David Ornstein reveals Arsenal interested in signing priority Manchester United target

David Ornstein has revealed that Arsenal are interested in signing one of Ruben Amorim’s favourites for the summer transfer window.

As with every Premier League team at this stage in the competition, United boss Ruben Amorim has been keen to secure some game-changing signings for his team in this summer’s transfer wind0w.

The Red Devils and the Gunners are no different, with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta now staking an interest in one of Amorim’s main-focus players.

According to The Athletic, “Arsenal are developing a strong interest in Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres as they consider their options to recruit a striker this summer.”

Gyokeres has been heavily linked with Old Trafford and its boss since being signed to Sporting CP by Amorim in 2023, who secured the Swiss national’s signature for a club-record €20 million transfer, and Amorim remains keen on Gyokeres as a good fit for Old Trafford.

In his debut season, Gyökeres played a pivotal role in helping Sporting secure the Primeira Liga title.

His individual success was equally remarkable, as he claimed the Bola de Prata after scoring 29 goals in 33 league appearances and was named Player of the Year.

All this success has won him the gaze of many a European club, with Arteta’s Gunners being the latest to throw their hat in the ring.

Both Arsenal and United have struggled with offensive options this season, with Arsenal’s Kai Havertz’ season-ending injury leaving the clubs attacking options dwindling and United’s strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee still being unreliable in front of the sticks.

However, currently valued at £62.7M, Gyokeres would be an eye-watering investment for any club, but his affinity for scoring goals and winning trophies makes him an equally attractive option for this summer.
