David de Gea made a dig at Erik ten Hag on social media after hearing that the Dutchman left Manchester United today.
He spent just one season under Ten Hag, winning the Golden Glove award in 2023 before leaving.
‘Now, it’s the right time to undertake a new challenge to push myself again in new surroundings.
‘I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years.
‘We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club,’ De Gea said after departing as a free agent.

His final year at United was met with a lot of critcism from fans and pundits, as Ten Hag preferred a goalkeeper that was more adept with their feet.
Despite several months in negotiations over a new deal, De Gea left in July 2023 with the manager making it clear he wanted to sign Andre Onana.
After hearing news of Ten Hag’s exit from United, De Gea posted a pinched fingers emoji on X, seemingly aimed at his former coach.
After spending a year as a free agent, the Spaniard found a new home at Serie A side Fiorentina.

In six league games this season, the 33-year-old has kept two clean sheets and saved two penalties.
He kept a club record 190 clean sheets for the Red Devils and played 545 games in 12 years – the seventh most in their history.
Last summer, it was reported that De Gea considered retirement after feeling hurt by how Ten Hag treated him at United.
Now, it seems that he has had the last laugh as Fiorentina fight for the Champions League places in the Serie A this season.
