David Cameron to return to UK government as foreign secretary amid sacking of Braverman

David Cameron, former UK prime minister, is expected to return to the British government as foreign secretary after a cabinet reshuffle by PM Rishi Sunak.

Mr Cameron, 57, was named in a surprise appointment made by Mr Sunak as he reshuffled his top team on Monday.

The ex-PM served as British prime minister from 2010 to 2016 but resigned after the outcome of the Brexit referendum when Britain voted to leave the European Union.

Mr Cameron’s return to UK’s front-line British politics comes after he spent the last seven years writing his memoirs and involving himself in business, including Greensill Capital, a finance firm which later collapsed.

His expected return to the government came after Mr Sunak fired home secretary Suella Braverman.

Ms Braverman had accused the UK police of favouring pro-Palestinian protesters.

James Cleverly has now replaced her.
