Darren Fletcher has been in hot water since an altercation at Old Trafford last month.
The United coach found himself on the end of a three-match ban and £7,500 fine from the FA for misconduct.
The situation arose during United’s Premier League match with Brentford, which ended up as a much-needed win for The Red Devils.
The first half was just coming to a close after a close-fought 45 minutes, with the teams still caught in a goalless deadlock.
However, the referee, Samuel Barrott, instructed Matthijs de Ligt off the pitch to have a bloody head wound treated.
Whilst the centre-back was off the pitch, the game played on with United reduced to 10 men, through no fault of their own.
It was with the advantage of the extra-man that Brentford won a corner and ultimately converted thanks to Ethan Pinnock, heading into half-time as leading the game.
United were naturally furious, with de Ligt, Fletcher, Jonny Evans, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Erik ten Hag all complaining to the referee, with Evans, Fletcher, van Nistelrooy and ten Hag all receiving yellow cards.
However, Fletcher didn’t stop there.
As everyone retired to the dressing rooms at half-time, Fletcher verbally assaulted the match officials as they went down the tunnel.
Fourth official recalls the incident with Darren Fletcher
Fourth official Gavin Ward recalled the event for the Independent Regulatory Commission, saying: “Following the half time whistle and as I made my way up the tunnel, I was approached by Darren Fletcher of Manchester United in an extremely aggressive manner pointing and shouting at me ‘you are all f***ing shit, that is a f***ing joke, every f***ing week.”
He continued: “I asked him to calm down and highlighted that his behaviour was completely unacceptable at this point.
“He then needed to be held back by another member of staff, as he tried to get closer to me. With this, I turned away and continued to make my way to the match officials changing room.
“Once in the changing room and when the other match officials arrived, I made them aware of the conduct of Mr Fletcher.”
Following the incident, Fletcher issued an apology, commenting that the anger he felt was not intended to be directed at the officials and instead was at “the process for managing medical treatment of the particular football player in this matter and in reference to an incident in a previous home game where at a similar stage of the game a red card was incorrectly issued to a Manchester United player.”
However, since receiving the ban, Fletcher has appealed and been successful.
BBC Journalist Simon Stone has confirmed that the disciplinary action has been reduced to a two-match ban and a £6,000 fine.
This means that whilst Fletcher has already missed the match with Leicester before the international break, Amorim’s first game in charge against Ipswich will be the final game the coach will miss.
