The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Youth Mobilization, Comrade Dan Obo, has clarified public misconceptions surrounding Hon. Oden Ewa’s recent youth tour, dismissing claims that it was linked to his alleged senatorial ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a podcast interview with Friday Awade, Dan Obo addressed speculations suggesting that the “Oden Ewa Youth Tour” was a strategic move to position the commissioner for a future Senate race.
During the program, the host, Friday Awade, highlighted certain activities from the tour which, according to observers, appeared to indicate political ambition. Responding, Dan Obo admitted that supporters would be happy to see Oden Ewa contest for the Senate in the future but stressed that the youth tour was not motivated by such aspirations.

“Yes, we want him to run for the Senate, but that was not the reason for the tour,” Dan Obo stated.
He further explained that Oden Ewa had previously organized outreach programs for elders and party members without attracting public criticism. According to him, similar gestures during festive periods had gone unquestioned in the past.
“Why was there no controversy when he toured elders? Why was there no reaction when he celebrated Christmas with party members? But when he decided to celebrate with youths, it suddenly became an issue,” he asked.
Dan Obo emphasized that the youth tour was unprecedented in the history of the Central Senatorial District, noting that no serving senator, commissioner, House of Representatives member, or assembly member had previously embarked on such an initiative to personally celebrate Christmas with young people.
He also revealed that during the tour, cash donations amounting to millions of naira were distributed to youths under the age of 35 to support their Christmas celebrations, an intervention he described as historic.
According to him, all financial donations were personally provided by himself and Mr. Fabian and were handed over to youth representatives in each local government area.
He concluded by reaffirming that the tour was purely a humanitarian and youth-empowerment initiative, aimed at encouraging and supporting young people across the Central Senatorial District, rather than a political campaign.
