Dan Ashworth has finally arrived at Old Trafford after a long wait on garden leave for United and Newcastle to agree a compensation fee to release the sporting director from his role.
Previous reports claimed that Ashworth believed he’d unfairly been put on gardening leave as ‘he was not asked to formally write down his resignation by chief Darren Eales and should not have been placed on gardening leave until he did so. He will therefore argue he was removed from his position rather than asking to step down’.
Whilst it was though that the only way an agreement to release Ashworth would be reached would be through an arbitration hearing, the two Premier League clubs have settle it between themselves.
A club statement read that “Newcastle United and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the immediate release of Dan Ashworth from his contractual obligations at Newcastle United.
It continued: “The terms of this agreement remain confidential between the clubs. Newcastle United thanks Dan for his services and wishes him well for the future.”
Previously the compensation fee agreed was rumoured to be around the £6 million mark, however iPaperSport have confirmed the true value of the compensation fee as £10 million.
Ashworth has already had his primary focus explained by Berrada, explaining the importance of not overspending on players in the transfer market and ensuring the right structure has been assembled.
