Dan might be seen as a joke character in Street Fighter 5 (and just about every other Street Fighter), but the character feels like an actual threat in Moruto’s hands. Though Capcom had previously patched Dan’s corner infinite, Moruto is still able to reliably perform the sequence up until the pink fireball is unleashed thanks to that 15% occurrence.

BST|Daigo Umehara recently faced off against Moruto’s Dan in a practice session. Since Daigo was expecting Moruto to choose Luke, Daigo himself opted for Guile in hopes of avoiding a mirror match. A translation of everything that was said during the match up has been uploaded by FGC Translated.

While Guile is particularly strong at controlling the pace of any given match thanks to his fast recovering Sonic Booms, Daigo still found himself often being pushed towards the corner against Moruto’s Dan.

There were plenty of times where Moruto was able to make use of the V-Shift Break mechanic to get through Daigo’s Sonic Booms. However, it still proved difficult to drain the grey life that resulted from the V-Shift Break hit.

At one point, Daigo found himself stunned while in the corner. As one might expect, this was the opportunity that Moruto had been looking for. Though Moruto was able to get a few reps of the “infinite” off, he ended up dropping the combo before it could be forcibly ended via the 15% pink fireball.
