Traveling to a different country where you don’t really speak the language is always enough to raise your stress levels, espeically if something happens to go wrong.
Legendary fighting game pro BST|Daigo Umehara recently released a funny video discussing his adventure trying to go home from DreamHack Summer 2024 for Street Fighter 6 in Sweden, and it’s now been updated with English subtitles so we can get all of the details as to what happened.
The first funny thing isn’t so much about the misadventure itself, but that Daigo name drops our very own Nicholas “MajinTenshinhan” Taylor at the start.
Instead of MajinTenshinhan driving them to the airport this time, Umehara and his crew including BST|Fuudo and Nauman had to ride the bus for five hours from Jönköping to Stockholm.
The veteran top competitor talks about that experience for a few minutes with how needing to use the bathroom after drinking the night before could prove to be a problem on a ride that long — and them trying to figure out if the extra door on the bus was for a toilet or not.
When the group of Japanese players arrive at the airport, they make it through the initial bag check, but decide to stop for food before going through the passport inspection, which Daigo says was a bit weird how it was set up.
The guys eat their burgers quick to make their flight, but when they get to the passport check, Daigo can’t find his anywhere.
Umehara describes how he must have looked like the Japanese manga/cartoon icon Doraemon comically digging through all of his belongings to no avail.
He retraces his steps back through security, the gift shop, restaraunt kiosk and more places, but time was quickly running out.
We won’t spoil the conclusion, but it led to Daigo yelling out the loudest “YES” of his life, which he hilariously recreates for his viewers.
If he never found it, however, he may have needed to call MajinTenshinhan and ask for a place to crash for a bit.
So we recommend checking out Daigo’s full tale on his Sweden misadventure, and we’ve also included his other video talking about the trip as well.
