THE Director General of Cross River State Primary HealthCare Development Agency (CRSPHCDA), Dr. Betta Edu has convene the first ever Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) monthly meeting of the agency in Calabar. The meeting which took place today April 6th, 2017 at the WHO conference room has in attendance the Permanent Secretary of the agency Mr. Mark Enenche, all M&E officers across the State and partner organizations.
Declaring the meeting open, Dr Edu welcome all M&E officers to the state capital and use the opportunity to stress the need for them to be proactive in carrying out their duties, since they remain key components to achieving the agency’s vision, which is to ensure that Cross River State citizens have access to quality, affordable and equitable Primary Health Care services.
The M&E officers are life wire of the Agency, and their functions include:
1. Measures success of the agency against goals
2. Assist management with decision making
3. Manage and improve quality and availability of data
4. Drives to differentiate data at the LGA, Ward, and community level
5. Satisfy mandated national reporting requirements and
6. Maintains accountability to government and other stakeholders and substantiate requests for additional support.
Moreso, the officers received with excitements the decision of His Excellency Prof. Sen. Ben Ayade to transfer the Salaries of health workers across the state from local government go the Agency as well as get confirmation letters as M&E officers, a decision the DG says will bring about prompt payments of salaries as at when due. The DG therefore stated that such a kind gesture from His Excellency has left the Agency with no option but to deliver and consolidate on His Excellency’s promise of transforming the health sector in the state. She further encourage M&E officers to obtain additional professional training if need be, that will enable them discharge their duties effectively.
Finally, Dr. Betta says CUSO International is constantly solidifying the Agency’s policies, she thanked the organization for their constant support and for hosting the first ever M&E monthly meeting.
