Cross River State House of Assembly has passed The Greater Calabar City Development Authority Bill into Law

The Law, a private member bill Sponsored by Rt. Hon Eteng Jonah Williams representing Yakurr II state constituency and Chairman House Committee on Appropriation provides the institutional framework required to develop new cities within the Southern senatorial district to decongest the already densely populated state capital.

The new law envisages development of new cities in Biase, Akamkpa, Odukpani, Akpabuyo, and Bakassi local government areas respectively.

Also provided in the Law is a legal regulatory framework for new city development and expansion of city infrastructure outside of Calabar the state capital to check arbitrariness and illegalities on the part of the implementers.
