…Completes Youth Tour Of Northern Senatorial District
Cross River State Youths have commended the Governor Bassey Otu led administration for the developmental projects across the state and specifically, in the Northern part of the state. The commendation was conveyed during an enlarged interactive session with the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, with youth leaders from across the five LGAs of the North.
Speaking during the event, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Cross River State Chapter, Comrade Emmanuel Olayi, stressed the need for sustained collaboration between the government and youth bodies to foster peace and meaningful development. He commended Governor Otu for his youth-centered policies and programs designed to improve the socioeconomic status of young people in the state.
In a goodwill message, Cmr. Olayi further appreciated the youths of the North for their resilience and support, while also preaching peace and unity, even in the face of the attacks on him by some disgruntled elements during the tour.

Vice Chairman North, Cmr. Wonah Patrick, expressed deep appreciations to the Governor for the “people first” agenda which is already visible in the North. He listed the projects to include road infrastructure, employment in the state’s civil service and other impactful social welfare programs.
Also speaking, the Speaker of the Cross River State Youth Parliament, Comrade Comfort Ngeh, advocated for increased gender inclusion, praising the administration for actively empowering young women and promoting female participation in leadership.
Addressing the youth delegation, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, disclosed that the Otu-led administration is intentional about creating opportunities for young people across the state.
He cited ongoing youth-focused initiatives to include; vocational training, job creation programs and other platforms for direct youth engagement as part of the government’s strategic efforts to build a stronger, youth-inclusive governance structure.
“Governor Bassey Otu is intentional about empowering our youth.
From training to employment, the government is putting structures in place to ensure young people are not just seen, but heard and included in decision-making.”
The state chairman and his team also joined the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey who was also on tour to appreciate the people of Northern Cross River for their unflinching support to the Otu led government. The deputy governor’s visit featured town hall engagements with the people and cash donations to support the new yam celebration across the five LGAs.
The interactive session also had in attendance, Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Agabi, Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Patrick Egbede, and Head of Personal Staff to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Chris Ojikpong.
In a unanimous resolution, the youth leaders also issued a warning to those selling jobs, stating that the council will not hesitate to apprehend and expose those caught in the act of job racketeering.
