The Executive Secretary, Border Communities Development Agency Abuja, Captain Junaid Abdullahi, has said that Cross River is a State that is very strategic and dear to his Agency in terms of development of projects.
Captain Abdullahi who disclosed this while in the State to hand over projects completed by the Border Communities Development Agency to Cross River maintained that the his Agency has completed several projects in the State which are to be handed over to Cross River Government.
The Border Communities Development Agency Executive Secretary who was represented by Engineer Emmanuel Bassey also revealed that he was in the State to secure new sites where new projects will commence soon once all formalities are completed.
Engineer Bassey extended the regards of the Executive Secretary of the Agency and thank the Government of Cross River State for receiving him and his team and informed the State Government that besides the projects being handed over, Border Communities Development Agency, Abuja had several other projects that are ongoing across border communities in the State at various stages of completion.
Engr. Emmanuel Bassey while in Cross River State visited the various sites in the State where the projects were handed over to the Cross River State Government.
Projects handed over to the Cross River State Government include,Two Skills Acquisition Centres with VIP Toilets and Borehole with Overhead Tanks in Obudu and Bakassi LGAs;
Border Market (Open and Lockup Stalls) with VIP Toilets, Borehole and Elevated Tank in Bankpor-Irruan, Boki Local Government Area, and Six Classroom Primary School Block with Administration Office and Solar-Powered Borehole in Obudu,
Primary Health Centre with Solar-powered Borehole and Elevated Tank at Ekang, Akamkpa.
Also handed over include Six Classroom Block with Headmaster/Staff Offices, Solar-powered Borehole at Ifiang Ayong, Bakassi LGA, Primary Health Centre with Solar-powered Borehole and Elevated Tank at Ifiang Ayong, Bakassi LGA, Primary Health Centre with Solar-powered Borehole and Elevated Tank at Ekprikang, Bakassi LGA.
The Border Communities Development Agency Abuja equally acquired new sites for the construction of Six Classroom Block with Offices , Borehole and Elevated Tank at Bunyia-Irruan, Boki LGA and Skills Acquisition Centre in Mfum, Etung LGA.
Speaking at the occasion the Director General, State Border Communities Development Commission (BORDERCOMM), Noel Ugbong, who represented the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Professor Benedict Ayade, lauded the Presidency for siting such laudable projects in Cross River State.
He equally expressed thanks to the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Capt. Junaid Abdullahi for the completed projects which he is handing over to the state, stated that under the leadership of Capt Abdullahi, the Agency is effectively playing the strategic role of catering for the needs of the Border Communities in the country in the areas of Education,Health, Economic Empowerment, Water and Sanitation.
The BORDERCOMM Director General pledged the commitment of the Cross River State Government to ensure that the projects are put to maximum use to the glory of God and for the overall benefit of the people.
High points of the visit was the signing of requiiste documents to formalise the handing over ceremony.
