Cross River: Ogoja Stands Still for Otu, Ayade, as APC Flags-off Campaign

Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River state, on Saturday, set out on another political journey on the premises of the Ogoja township stadium in the heart of Ogoja, the headquarters of Ogoja Local Government Area of the state. They came out in their thousands to make a strong statement about their commitment, determination and zeal to continue to provide enviable political leadership to the people of the state.

The event, which was the flag-off of the campaigns of the party, had an unprecedented crowd of party supporters that trooped out to witness the rally that could be described as the mother of all rallies in the political history of the state.

The development, according to political pundits in the state, was to make a statement of support and commitment to the Ayade-led Government that come rain, come shine, his people and APC supporters in the state would continue to follow him to wherever he leads in the overall interest of the state and of the country as a whole.

Prior to the flag-off, party leaders moved from one ward to another to mobilise voters. Apart from this, the party instituted canvassers across the various wards in the state by engaging the electorates on the need to continue to ensure continuity in the governance of the state come 2023.

The canvassers, who were enthusiastic about the assignment, have been making a good outing and have vowed to ensure that all the candidates of the APC, starting from governorship candidate, Prince Bassey Otu and all APC candidates are elected.

As early as 9 am, party faithful and supporters across various wards in the Northern senatorial District of the state defied harsh harmattan weather and joined in a convoy of vehicles to the venue of the rally at the Ogoja township stadium.

Supporters were seen brandishing placards with inscriptions such as, “Ayade we know”, “Otu for All’ will do it very well”, “Ayade is our leader”,  “Okadigbo for the people”, “Tinubu is our president”, “No way for seasonal politicians in Cross River”, among others.

Eba, who was highly elated with the massive turnout of the party’s members at the rally, said that “the members of the APC in Cross River state and entire people of the state have resolved to support the ruling All Progressives Congress.

“I want to tell you that these forthcoming general elections in Cross River state are not about any politician, or about our governorship candidate, Senator Prince Bassey Otu and other candidates in the election, but about Cross River and our tradition of good governance.

“We must all come out with our permanent voter’s cards and come out en masse during the polls to vote for all the APC candidates and Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and Shettima as the presidential and vice presidential candidates, respectively during the elections.”

Prince Bassey Otu also promised to continue with the good work of current administrations in the state, when elected, adding that youths would be empowered and offered employment opportunities for them to contribute their quota to the growth of the state.

The event witnessed the presentation of party flags to the candidates of the party for the state House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and Governorship elections.

Also, the state chairman received a political bulldozer Hon Emma Lifu who officially decamped to the APC along with hundreds of his excited supporters.
