The Cross River State House of Assembly has officially launched the Christian Legislators’ Fellowship Chapel and dedicated musical instruments within the Assembly complex in Calabar. The event was led by the Speaker, Elvert Ayambem, who pledged the 10th Assembly’s commitment to honoring and praising God for His blessings and mercy.
During the dedication service, Ayambem emphasized the importance of establishing an altar within the Legislature to lay a strong spiritual foundation. Describing the chapel’s dedication as a turning point, he revealed his covenant of “no deaths” among members of the current Assembly, underlining his dedication to the well-being of all lawmakers.
Accompanied by his wife, Nelly Ayambem, the Speaker urged forgiveness among colleagues, calling on members to purge their hearts and emulate God’s mercy.

Martins Achado, the Member representing Yala 2 State Constituency and a pastor in the fellowship, explained that the purpose behind the dedication is to dismantle evil altars and establish Godly ones as places of worship and supplication.
He highlighted the state’s blessing of having a Governor who is also a man of God, describing the Assembly’s altar as a gateway to uninterrupted access to divine favor. Achado further revealed plans to extend this spiritual initiative to Local Government Councils across the state, envisioning Cross River as a strong praying state.
Guest minister Rev Theodore Effiong delivered a sermon based on Judges 6:12-26, highlighting the need for individuals willing to raise altars for God and remove satanic strongholds. He praised Governor Bassey Otu for reviving the State’s Solemn Assembly and commended the Speaker for providing a suitable place of worship within the Assembly.
Rev Effiong declared that this new season of service to God would lead to unprecedented blessings and advancement.
The dedication ceremony featured prayers, choir performances, and vibrant praise and worship.
Key attendees included the Deputy Speaker Sylvester Agabi, Deputy Leader Davies Etta, other fellowship ministers such as Rev Mercy Akpama, Evangelist Kingsley Ntui, Samuel Neji Abang, Elder Bassey Bassey, and a majority of Assembly lawmakers.
