Mr. Oden Ewa, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations in Cross River State, has been honored with the Award of Excellence for Outstanding Security Personality of the Year. The prestigious recognition was conferred by the International Institute of Professional Security (IIPS) on Friday, October 11, 2025, at the institute’s annual ceremony held at NICON Luxury, Abuja.
The award celebrates men and women who have shown exceptional leadership and innovation in the security and governance sectors. According to the IIPS, Mr. Ewa’s recognition is a testament to his “outstanding leadership in promoting institutional collaboration, public safety, and sustainable development” within Cross River State and beyond.
The Institute specifically highlighted Ewa’s role in bridging economic growth with safety and stability. As Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Ewa also chairs the State’s Green Economic Commission, where he drives policies that integrate environmental stewardship with economic prosperity—a balance the IIPS views as crucial to modern security and societal stability.

The IIPS, which aims to professionalize security and influence political and social debates on the subject, stated that Ewa’s commitment to integrating environmental responsibility as a long-term driver of prosperity aligns with their core vision for a safer Nigeria.
Mr. Ewa’s public service is underpinned by over 17 years of top-tier private-sector experience, including a significant tenure as Executive Director of Business Development & Strategy at Korpu Group, Africa. His expertise in risk management, strategic partnerships, and development finance has been brought to bear in his government role.
He currently serves on both the Cross River State Economic Management Team (EMT) and the Council on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).
Through these roles, he has spearheaded critical alliances between government and industry, launching and overseeing projects focused on clean energy, green investment, and inclusive economic progress.
Beyond his official duties, Mr. Ewa is a dynamic voice in the state’s civic and political space, notably as a founding member and pioneer chairman of the APC Youth Lobby Group in Cross River. He is also the founder of the Oden Ewa Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2019 to improve education and healthcare access through scholarships and community health programs.
The International Institute of Professional Security concluded that the award is a recognition of Mr. Ewa’s enduring contributions to a more secure and sustainable Nigeria, reflecting a career marked by integrity, service and innovation.
