Manchester United are now looking for their next manager after sacking Erik ten Hag.
Within 24 hours of United parting ways with the Dutchman, The Red Devils are already closing in on his successor.
United are in talks to close a deal with Sporting Lisbon to hire their current manager Ruben Amorim.
Whilst Amorim has agreed to join United, a compensation fee needs to be agreed, with his release clause of £16.6 million halved specifically for United.
The Portuguese manager has been dominating play with Sporting, winning five trophies in four years.
Already he’s establishing himself as the hottest young prospect in European management.
Now, news has emerged of Cristiano Ronaldo giving high praise for his former teammate.
The Portuguese press also have high praise for the manager, with BBC Sport reporting that Portuguese football writer Marcus Alves describes Amorim as “Eloquent and outgoing.”
He continues: “Amorim is irresistible and dominates the words in such a way that Cristiano Ronaldo used to call him ‘poet’ in the national team.”
Ronaldo and Amorim played together for the Portuguese national squad with Amorim only hanging up his boots in 2016.
The praise from the United legend is a huge difference to the criticism Ronaldo had of ten Hag, even leaving his second stint at Old Trafford due to the Dutchman.
Hopefully “the poet” will be able to get United out of their current slump, with the club needing to fight for Champions League football next season to avoid Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) breaches.
