Ronaldo’s fighting in Mugen like he’s a Frieza or something
The fighting game community as well as the world of soccer / football received quite the surprise yesterday when superstar Cristiano Ronaldo teased some sort of involvement with Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
Now, fans on both sides of the pitch can witness perhaps a preview of what’s to come with the Al Nassr soccer player taking on Terry Bogard though it’s not quite in SNK’s upcoming game.
Following the unexpected trailer, the social media account No Context Mugen posted a very fitting video for what some fans may be expecting.
In it, we’re shown a pixelated Ronaldo taking on Terry Bogard as he appeared in Garou: Mark of the Wolves in Mugen, so it’s anything but official — though is still fun.
Ronaldo’s move set is comprised of comical-looking kicks and strikes though he can also fire small projectiles by just pointing at Terry.
Moreover, one of his Supers has him firing a larger beam at the Fatal Fury star, which visually doesn’t even travel the full screen, as well as charge up his ki like a Dragon Ball character.
It’s even extra fitting considering they’re fighting on an SNK soccer stage.
For those who may not know, Mugen is a free fighting game engine that first released all the way back in 1999, which allows players to create and download user-created including characters, stages, user interfaces and much more.
Mugen has been used to create strange dream matches for decades between almost any character, person, being or even object you can think of even if they’re not from fighting games so long as a person took the time to program them sprites and a moveset.
So these assets weren’t made solely for this joke, Mugen Ronaldo appears to date back to at least 2017 or 2018 while the SNK stage was actually made in 2012 if not much earlier.

Whether or not Cristiano actually becomes a crossover character in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves remains to be seen, but he’d certainly be pretty out there in terms of roster choices.
It also has us wondering what an official move list for the soccer player would look like in a 2D fighter considering SNK’s American Sports Team only covers basketball, American football and boxing — plus they’ve been sidelined since 1998 too.
We’ll just have to wait and see what this crossover actually entails between Ronaldo and Fatal Fury.
