The Cross River State Government, through the Ministry Of Humanity and Social Welfare has visited the vulnerable people in some Social Institutions in the Calabar Metropolis.
The Ministry,saddled with the responsibility of reducing poverty/burden of the vulnerable and less privileged in the Society through an effective and efficient welfare system made cash donations, presented essential food items,hand sanitizers and face masks to Orphanages and Old People’s homes around Calabar Metropolis.
Representing the Governor, the Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Mrs. Blessing Egbara said the donation of the essential items at this time of global pandemic was to assist the less privileged and vulnerable persons in these institutions.
She maintained that the fact that they are in these homes does not make them less human but due to certain circumstances of life,they have found themselves in the homes,which makes them very special people with special needs that should be attended to regularly.
Mrs. Egbara informed that she was in the Homes at the instance of the State Governor,Sir Ben Ayade to ensure his people are protected, remind them of his love and advised them to stay strong and stay safe through out this period and thanked the Officers of the Homes for the humanitarian services they are rendering to the children and the Old People.
He also enjoined them to make judicious use of the items.
In all the Homes visited, the Officers in-Charge thanked the State Government for having their welfare at heart at such a time like this and asked that the visit be more frequent.
A total of 10 Homes were visited by the Commissioner and her support Staff.
