Role Description
This Full-Time, on-site Cost Accountant role is responsible for providing cost analyses for processes and products, developing and managing budgets, and providing recommendations to ensure cost effectiveness for Pumpkin Patch Foods. The successful candidate will form a part of a growing managerial team of both young and experienced individuals.
Responsibilities
Full bookkeeping and accounting function up to trial balance, including debtors, creditors, bank, petty cash, journals, etc.
Performing bank reconciliations
Monthly journal entries
VAT calculations and VAT201 submissions
VAT reconciliations
Assistance with income tax and provisional tax submissions
Responsible for calculating VAT, PAYE, and other necessary SARS requirements
Maintenance of SARS accounts
Payroll preparation (currently outsourced)
IRP5 calculations, reconciliations, and submissions
PAYE/UIF/SDL calculations and EMP201 submissions
Liaison with customers
Administrative duties
Cashflow management
Create ad-hoc reports for various business needs
Prepare tax documents
Analyse business performance and management accounts
Financial management for profit optimisation
Monitor and manage product pricing
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in cost accounting, accounting, finance, or a related field
3+ years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing and packaging
Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
Strong knowledge of MS Excel and financial software systems
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to understand and comply with cost accounting standards, policies, and procedures
Attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Experience with SAP or a similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a plus
