Today we’d like to introduce you to Danika Maia.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Danika Maia, I’m a writer and adult entertainer from California but currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark. I also run a series of workshops, courses, and meetups for other adult content creators called Money Mama Club which I started at the beginning of the pandemic to help in-person entertainers move their work online when lockdown happened. Recently, I just returned to Denmark after spending one month in New York City for two very exciting reasons. The first, was that I wrote a screenplay about my journey from Corporate Media Creative at VICE Media to Adult Entertainer which got optioned this summer by Goldilocks Productions, and the second, was I hosted my first “Money Mama Meetup” which is a combination workshop and content creation day where 10 women flew in from all over the country and we spent the day sharing ideas, networking and creating beautiful work! I was more of a copywriter and sometimes journalist after college, but I made the decision to go independent 4 years ago and I am so happy that I did!
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Oh certainly not, it has been a very long and emotional road. I went to college for Digital Marketing and was working in media when I felt a major lack of inspiration. I was doing mostly branded content work, and I longed to be a creator like those we were featuring on our site, but just felt I had no inspiration. I first left my corporate job in 2018 and spent one year working with artists as a curator and producer, doing events. Through this I met many performers, and some in the adult industry. I decided to try camming, dancing, and OnlyFans and haven’t looked back. One thing that was important to me when I made the decision to switch my line of work, was that I would be open and honest with my following about choosing to work in adult entertainment. I didn’t want to hide it and just take the “easy money” (which is the title of my script, too) and not give back to the community by sharing things that I was learning about my own biases along the way. Obviously, many people are very judgmental about this type of work and that was very hard for me to accept at first, however I really feel that I have made a huge difference in many of my followers’ minds about the industry in a positive way by showing a little behind the scenes into all of the strategy and business that goes into this career!
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I am especially excited about my work with Money Mama Club and would love to continue helping new and aspiring content creators feel comfortable and confident with a solid content strategy. I wrote a 55-page workbook for the first Money Mama Meetup that includes everything from Social Media Growth Strategy to Content Planning to Tip Menus to very very basic Personal Finance, Crypto, and Investing! I see a lot of top creators selling courses in the thousands, but I know that the reality is many creators barely make a few hundred on their fan sites. My specialty is helping those who are new, maybe don’t have a ton to spend on this, and want some real personal help. You can purchase the workbook for just $99 or you can get a one on one call with me included for $199. It’s so worthwhile to have a clear plan because trust me there is way more that goes into this than you think! If it’s not a real job how did it take me 55 pages to give a brief overview?
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Don’t kill the part of you that is “cringe”. Kill the part that cringes. I don’t know where I heard this but it has helped me so much! I used to be so afraid to share my personality or be too much on social media because people always judged it when I worked in a hip office. But now I just go for it. Of course I still get down by what people think sometimes, but I’m getting stronger every day.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
I feel the most successful when I’m doing something that I believe matters. I prefer to work independently through social media and fan sites and connect directly to people because if I hear from even just one person that I made a difference in what they think or how they feel about the world – that’s everything to me.
What’s next for you?
I am still in development on my script “Easy Money” with Goldilocks Productions and I hope to be able to speak more about that in the beginning of the year, as well as developing more concepts for Money Mama in new and exciting locations! I’d love to host a meetup and workshops in California and Europe next.
Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
