June 07, 2024 MANHATTAN, New York – Police in East Harlem called for back up just before 11:30 a.m., after having to taser a violent individual near an entrance to the 125th Subway Station 4/5/6 lines on Friday, in Manhattan, NYC.
The taser was not able to bring the man down but the individual was restrained and held down once police back up arrived.
The violent individual was then taken to an area hospital with charges pending.
This latest report of violence comes amid a rise in police interactions with individuals experiencing mental health issues in East Harlem.
Just five day’s prior, in a separate incident police shot an emotionally disturbed man outside the 23 Precint house after he allegedly tried to stab a group of people in Harlem.
In both cases the individuals suspected in each crime were apprehended by police and taken into custody.
