After the second meeting of the Association of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria (AMPON) in Calabar where the National Chairman of (AMPON), Comrade Wole Arisekola graciously elevated the Cross River Chapter to South-South Zonal Headquarters of the association, members in a communiqué at the end of the meeting resolved as follows:
Members commended the National Executive of AMPON for deeming Cross River fit to assume the status of a Zonal Headquarters of the association for the entire South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria dubbed “Niger Delta region”.
The newly established AMPON South-South Zone urge all its members to maintain high level of professionalism in their day-to-day reportage in line with the national objectives of AMPON in order to attract development in their area of coverage.
The zone decried the activities of some online platform operators bent on maligning others for their personal aggrandizement.
The communiqué urged members of the public who have issues with its members online to be in touch with the zonal body instead of resorting to assault and violence on its members as such action would not be taken lightly.
AMPON South-South Zone also lauded South-South governors for all their efforts in sustaining lasting peace in the region, and urged them to do more in other to restore the once enjoyed peace in the area.
The body particularly commended the Cross River Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade for stepping up security in State which has help in curbing the activities of hoodlums in the state.
AMPON recalled that few months ago the state capital witnessed some level of lawlessness exhibited by miscreants but through the commendable efforts of security operatives in the state, normalcy returned.
AMPON appealed to the governor and security operatives in the state to maintain the existing surveillance with a view to completely chase out the hoodlums and also called on other states in the South-South Zone to emulate Cross River Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade’s pattern of fighting crime.
Members of AMPON however resolved to apply professionalism in their day-to-day reportage to bring about needed development in the area.
