Manchester United and Manchester City are both planning for life after Erik ten Hag and Pep Guardiola, with both clubs eyeing up the same man.
There’s been much speculation over recent months of ten Hag coming to the end of his tenure at Old Trafford. The Dutchman has been struggling to get results with the club, currently sitting in 12th place in the Premier League after finishing eighth last season.
With United desperate for a top-four finish, although ten Hag has been saved by the executive committee twice, a third time may not be so lucky.
However, the story is very different at City. Guardiola has been enjoying years of success at the Etihad but is yet to commit to a new contract, with the club currently being investigated for financial breaches between 2009 and 2018.

As a result, both clubs are now shortlisting a series of potential candidates to replace their current managers, with both teams seriously considering the same manager.
The Manchester clubs look to Sporting CP
It’s recently been reported that both Manchester City and Manchester United are looking at Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim to replace the current managers.
Amorim has been at Sporting since 2020 and since then has won the Liga Portugal twice, the Taca de Portugal twice and the Supertaca Candido de Oliveira.
Now, Sporting’s president Frederico Varandas has spoken out about the links to his manager, commenting: “I’ve been hearing this question for over four years.”
He continued: “I think this should make all Sporting fans and even the entire media proud; one of the best coaches in the world has been at Sporting for five years. That’s fantastic.
“In a structure where all the pieces are important, [the manager] is the most important piece of that structure. Today, the three of us [Varandas, Viana and Amorim] have a friendly relationship.
“It is a fact that Ruben Amorim has a contract with Sporting until 2026. And, today, it’s a fact that Hugo Viana will be the sporting director of Manchester City next year.
“For me, that’s not an issue. I only live off what I can control.”
