About the role
We are looking for a Clerk of Works – Buildings that will be responsible to inspect the workmanship quality and safety of work, performed by construction and maintenance teams/contractors in the building maintenance environment. The clerk of work will ensure quality, compliance, cost and completeness to the scope of work that needs to be performed.
Reporting to the Engineer: Facilities, you will be:
- Inspections of workmanship quality and safety of work performed during building maintenance.
- Verifications of compliance, quality and completeness to the scope of work that needs to be performed.
- Discern between repair liabilities (owner, lessee & occupant) for properties and document the work to be performed per category.
- Provide feedback on the performance of contractors using official channels and monthly performance meetings.
- Performing regular inspections of the work on site and documenting the quality of work performed including deviations found. Comparing completed work with drawings, specifications and the scope of work that needs to be delivered. Facilitating the process of documenting work to be done on company owned and on rental properties as part of maintenance.
- Compile Scope of Work in adherence to RBM COP and general procedures for work to be conducted in area of responsibility.
- Put in place contracts/ outline agreements with procurement business partners for services in area of responsibility.
- Support 2.13.3.1/2.13.1 appointee to comply with MHSA Regulations 2.13.4.1(b)
What you’ll bring
- Degree/Diploma Civil Engineering/ Construction/Building Management
- Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a building/construction and maintenance environment in the mining industry, of which 2 years’ experience in a supervisory position.
- Knowledge of SAP in a maintenance environment and the work management cycle;
- Knowledge of general repair and maintenance work related to buildings/structures/ prefab buildings i.e.: Concrete & Masonry work, Paint application, cupboards, tiles, carpentry, steel work, drainage systems, garage door, facia, roofs, bathrooms, plumbing and hot water systems
- Knowledge and understanding of the application of the National Building regulations SANS 10400 National Building regulation.
- Knowledge and understanding of the application of the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996.
- Knowledge and experience in Building Management Systems
- Valid EB Driver’s License
