Cleric underscores importance of Baptism as Anambra female Commissioner dedicates triplet

Parish Priest, St. Francis Catholic Church, Enugwu Ukwu in Njikoka local government area of Anambra state, Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Oranusi, has described baptism as a cardinal means of initiating converts into God’s great Commission.

Fr. Oranusi explained that baptism was a signpost to the beginning of a new life into Christendom as well as foundation for effective service to God, even as he tasked parents on child upbringing.

The cleric was speaking while administering sacrament of baptism on the set of triplet – two boys and a girl – Terence, Albert and Laura respectively, who were the children of Mr. Boniface Ogbutor and Prof. Theresa Obiekezie, Anambra state Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, at the parish hall, yesterday.

He noted that baptism being one of the seven sacraments was usually administered in fulfilment of the basic requirements for sustainable Christian life and evangelisation as preachers, prophets and teachers.

While urging parents as the prime caregivers to nurture the children with the fear of God in words and actions to make Heaven, he reminded them as parents of the triplets not to deviate from serving God.

The priest who described gift of triplets as special blessing which symbolised the Trinity, enjoined the parents to remain eternally grateful to God by being more visible in Church activities.

“Triplets signifies Trinity and it shows the whole grace from above have been given to the family.

“Now, that God has decided to offer you people these special blessings, you should reciprocate by sustaining your visibility in Church, community and service to humanity”, Fr. Oranusi said.

Father of the triplets, Mr Ogbutor, who is an engineer, thanked God for a successful introduction of their children into Christian life.

Mother of the triplets, Prof Obiekezie described the sacrament of baptism into the Roman Catholic faith as a stepping stone for their spiritual growth.

She added that the joy of the family knew no bounds for the special gifts from God, promising to continue to train and lead them in the way of God.
