City of the Wolves has landed and she's glorious

SNK’s next big fighting game outing is none other than Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Now with its April 2025 release date locked in, the company has been revealing more and showcasing more about the game to give fans the proper lead in before launch.

Just recently, SNK unveiled Mai Shiranui as a playable character on the CotW roster, though she came equipped with a brand new design that fans seem to be taking a liking to (for the most part). With a new costume for an iconic character will surely come cosplay for it, and the first ever City of the Wolves Mai cosplay that we’ve seen has now landed — and she’s glorious.

SNK has been in attendance and has a large presence at Tokyo Game Show 2024 this past week, and there they set up a large booth for the upcoming Fatal Fury title. The folks behind City of the Wolves came prepared as not only did they have a seemingly massive booth, but they also brought in their own roster of cosplayers to portray some of the new game’s fighters.

Among the pack was Saki Miyamoto who cosplayed as the new Mai. Not only has Miyamoto shared several photos on Twitter, but event-goers also managed to snap and share some of their own pictures of this fresh Mai cosplay.

The new Mai Shiranui design in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves appears to aim more for a biker aesthetic, which involves her wearing a leather top, leather pants, gloves, boots, and the like.

Some fans weren’t all too pleased to see that her original design isn’t her default here, though that costume is indeed in the game as part of one of her super attacks. Original Mai, unfortunately, isn’t an alternate costume that she can put on in CotW right now, but hopefully that changes down the line.

That being said, the new leather-clad Mai looks fantastic, and Miyamoto does an amazing job portraying her in real life. The standard is now set for new Fatal Fury Mai cosplay with this being the first to drop, and Saki has set the bar pretty darn high.

Below we have included some tweets that share photos of Saki’s new Mai cosplay, as well as a look at some of the other Fatal Fury cosplayers at the SNK booth.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is set for launch on April 24, 2025. It will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
