It’s always a good time for some new fighting game announcements, and it looks like we may have some big ones on the horizon in just a few days.
More specifically, Street Fighter 6 and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves are apparently primed for reveals at the Summer Game Fest 2024.
Geoff Keighley released the official sizzle trailer for his big Summer event where fighting game fans quickly pointed out some familiar faces on display.
Around the 1:10 mark, we see a brief look at Akuma in SF6 followed by SNK’s Rock Howard at 1:18 among a couple dozen other games.
This doesn’t necessarily outright confirm we’ll be getting new character announcements during the stream, but it does mean the games will at least be present in some fashion.
Fatal Fury is probably the most likely to showcase a new fighter since they’ve only revealed like 6 thus far with the last being Marco Rodrigues back at Evo Japan 2024.
With Akuma hitting SF6 just under two weeks ago now, it still may be too soon for Capcom to move fully into Season 2 content yet.
Perhaps, however, they’ll at least give fans a teaser with the promise of something much bigger at Evo 2024 in July.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is featured multiple times throughout the trailer, so Bandai Namco will almost assuredly have more characters to show there as well.
There’s plenty of other games that’ll be present with hopefully new things to show too obviously with titles like Dragon’s Dogma 2, Helldivers 2, Hellblade 2, Elden Ring, Death Stranding 2, Palworld and more in the sizzle reel here.
The main Summer Game Fest stream is scheduled to take place this Friday, June 7, at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET, so we’ll learn what all they have to reveal then.
