Chun-Li’s Yokusenkyaku command normal (also known as the “Wing Whirling Leg”) made its debut in Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. This attack causes Chun-Li to go airborne with a hop as she advances with a sweeping leg motion.

Notably, the Yokusenkyaku is one of Chun-Li’s most important moves in Street Fighter 5 as it goes airborne, profiles Chun-Li above most low attacks, and will Crush Counter opponents when hit during a move’s counter hit frames. It seems that the Yokusenkyaku is slated to return once more in Street Fighter 6. Will it be as useful as it was in Street Fighter 5?

Just like with Street fighter 5, the Yokusenkyaku will have Chun-Li go airborne as she attacks. This likely means that the attack will act as a very effective way to counter throw attempts.

As seen in a Street Fighter 6 clip highlighted by NurseLee, the Yokusenkyaku will also retain its ability to beat low attacks. An attack like this is pretty ideal for a character that’s intended to excel at footsies.

While Street Fighter 5’s Crush Counters aren’t really a thing in Street Fighter 6, there are plenty of incentives to use this move in a certain way. Any move that whiff punishes another during gameplay will secure the “punish counter” state against the opponent.

The punish counter state appears to be similar enough to the counter hit state. Not only will Chun-Li have extra frames to link into something else for a greater punish, but this will also drain the opponent’s Drive Gauge.
