Even 3 decades afterwards, the fight sequence between Chun-Li and Vega in Street Fighter 2’s animated movie remains burned into our brains for how awesome it is and giving us all a rare glimpse at the villain looking like an actually deadly killer.
That’s why animator and Art Director for studio The Odd Gentlemen, DLIU, decided it’d be the perfect inspiration for a fan animation for the newly released Scream 6.
Instead of starting out with the attack in the bedroom (like the cut version), DLIU’s animation begins with the female hero / victim getting ambushed by Ghostface in her living room when she attempts to pick up the phone.
After that we get to see a different yet equally menacing take on Ghostface rising up and leap into the air like Vega though we aren’t cutting away to Guile to break up the action.
This fun animation obviously isn’t a total carbon copy of the Chun vs. Vega fight with its own twists and turns, but fans will definitely be able to appreciate all of the references that DLIU managed to pack in only a minute and nine seconds.
Unfortunately, we don’t get to see a couch thrown at Ghostface, however.
We recommend checking out the special SF-inspired Scream animation below as a fun and mildly bloody way to start the week.
This edit has been living in my mind since the 2 or so months ago I started production.
