Drive Impacts certainly look like they’re going to be a powerful tool when Street Fighter 6 releases next year, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t multiple ways to avoid the flashy attacks.

Chun-Li apparently has an extra way to dodge incoming Drive Impacts over other characters, and NurseLee just released an excellent short breakdown to show how.

As can be seen in the first clip, Chun is able to crouch down into her new special crouching stance and then what looks like its version of her sweep, which makes Luke’s Drive Impact completely miss.

This seems to be due to her stance low profiling right under the attack although it’s not exactly clear if just sitting there will avoid attacks or just specific normals out of the crouch.

NurseLee also speculates that the technique won’t work universally against the whole cast and may depend on where the opponent’s Drive Impact hits.

For example, Guile’s DI looks like a low crushing kick, which means there’s a strong likelihood it’ll still hit Chun-Li in her stance.

Kimberly’s flying knee is a bit more ambiguous as to what properties her DI will have, but Juri’s does appear to be a a high crushing move.

The ability to low profile Drive Impacts assuredly won’t be exclusive to Chun in the full game either, as there’s plenty of examples of slides and other attacks that have the property in previous entries.

This is all of course in reference to the current demo version of SF6 we’ve been looking at for months now, so how low attacks interact with Drive Impacts could very well change by the time Street Fighter 6 hits shelves.

We will get a chance to see a more updated build of SF6 very shortly when Capcom showcases Juri and Kimberly’s movesets in the early morning of Wednesday, September 7.
