Where Mason Greenwood will be playing next is completely up in the air on the back of the 22-year-old’s loan spell in Spain at Getafe.

A successful season winning the Getafe Player of the Season award by scoring ten goals across 36 impressive appearances in all competitions has got the player back into the thoughts of some big name teams.

With such a successful season for the Spanish club, it’s no surprise that many are suggesting the club may look to bring the Englishman back to the squad either on another loan or more permanently, with a potential hint to this desire posted on their X page. On Monday morning, the Getafe posted a picture of the winger waving to the Spanish fans with the caption “See you SOON, blues”, stirring up thoughts of the fans that this may be the club announcing their intent in the summer transfer window.

Elsewhere, reports suggested that German giants Borussia Dortmund are considering the young forward, however their sporting director has spoken out at the Champions League Final media day to say that all transfer plans were on hold and, despite the rumours, refused to comment on the potential link to Greenwood.

However, now Caught Offside have reported that new information is coming out around Dortmund’s interest in Greenwood through Christian Falk, the head of football at BILD Group.

According to Falk’s sources, the German club are considering a loan offer for the Englishman, however his all depends on the future of Greenwood’s Manchester United team-mate, Jadon Sancho.

Sancho is reportedly Dortmund’s first choice signing, however his salary demands are currently a real point of contention in bringing the ex-Dortmund star currently there on loan back to the club. Currently United are paying a lot of Sancho’s salary while he’s at BVB, with the player earning €20 million gross per year.

This is vastly more than their current highest salary in the form of Matt Hummels who is contracted to €14 million gross per year, and they are refusing to pay more than this for Sancho’s salaries, despite being able to afford the transfer fee.

Is Dortmund cannot secure Sancho’s signature for a lower salary than his Old Trafford wage, the club would then turn to Greenwood, however his controversial past is providing issues for the club to commit to the United academy graduate.

With a number of clubs wanting to remain nameless in their scouting of Greenwood among concerns of the reaction that their fans would have with the club being link to Greenwood, despite the Crown Prosecution Service having dropped all charges and no conviction occurring on the back of the allegations of attempted rape, assault and coercive and controlling behaviour. As a result, it’s expected that most teams will keep their interest away from public knowledge until a deal is close to completion, with many looking to use a loan-deal as a test of the fans’ reaction.
