Job Summary
- The children’s & Junior Ministry Coordinator will be responsible for designing programs that engage, guide, and mobilize the gifts of others (i.e children and teenagers), to develop a multi-faceted program that includes spiritual formation, education, mission, service, fun, and outreach.
- The coordinator will collaborate with other staff, parents, and members of other ministry teams to achieve the sole purpose of leading all children/teenagers to a foundational authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating comprehensive ministry programs that provide vision, direction, and support for both physical and spiritual maturity of children and teenagers ministry.
- Coordinate the recruitment, training, support, and evaluation of volunteers in the children & youth ministry
- Develop a systematic and intentional curriculum for children and teenagers that utilizes a creative variety of formats, settings, and timeframes.
- Conduct a regular study of dynamic children & youth programs of other Christian congregations in our area to see what approaches might work best at TP.
- Coordinate meetings with parents, leaders, and the pastorate in the congregation on a quarterly basis, or more frequently as needed.
- Responsible for the development of a strategic growth plan and implementation for both ministries in spiritual, physical, and numeric values.
- Additional responsibilities are at the discretion of the Senior Pastor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this Position
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of working experience in children and youth ministry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in composing reports, correspondence and letters and in publishing e-newsletters and flyers in English, ability to develop and facilitate children and youth programs and confirmation sessions; ability to read and understand church documents and guidelines.
- Ability to read, prepare, and manage budgets for major events and programs; prepare an annual budget for both ministries (i.e children and youth).
- Knowledge of Church structure and culture, current trends, and issues within those cultures. Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to solve problems, make sound decisions, and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
