Manchester United are now setting their sights on a comeback after their recent poor performances, with their next match at Old Trafford against Chelsea.
The sacking of Erik ten Hag at the start of the week has led to Ruud van Nistelrooy stepping up as interim manager until Ruben Amorim starts as the permanent manager on the 11th November.
However, van Nistelrooy’s first match in charge couldn’t have gone better. Having only won four games in fourteen matches this season, United came out and delivered a commanding performance resulting in a win for The Red Devils.
Taking on Leicester in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford, van Nistelrooy’s men recorded a 5-2 win with braces from Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, with a singular goal from Alejandro Garnacho. The victory secured United’s place in the Quarter-Final against Tottenham Hotspur in December.
Now all preparation is focussed on United’s next game, a Premier League clash with Chelsea.
Enzo Maresca’s side currently sit in fifth place, with United six points below them in fourteenth.

However, news has now broken that one of United’s former stars will not be taking part in the game.
Jadon Sancho to miss return to Old Trafford
Jadon Sancho is currently on loan from United to Chelsea, a deal that was agreed on transfer deadline day this summer.
Although United were trying to sell the star, no team was coming forward with a permanent offer. However, Chelsea were offering a loan-to-buy offer, which United jumped on.
The deal in place will see Chelsea buy the winger at the end of the season for £25 million.
Since moving to Stamford Bridge, Sancho has been enjoying his game time, having grabbed assists in three consecutive matches, against Bournemouth, West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion.
However, Sancho is set to miss Chelsea’s trip to Old Trafford this weekend.
Maresca has announced that Sancho is unwell, however, as he is technically on loan from United, he’s not eligible to play against his parent club.
The same won’t be able to be said next year, however, when Sancho will be free to face his former club.
Jadon Sancho will miss the game against Man United at Old Trafford — as he couldn’t play against his parent club anyway.
“All the players are available but Jadon will be out. He has been ill in the recent days”, says Enzo Maresca. pic.twitter.com/hQdPTdVXFH
