A former Manchester United defender is looking at a return to the UK, with a host of Championship sides considering the 27-year-old.
One of the sides in question is Swansea, who are currently in 13th place, only seven points off of a play-off spot for promotion.
Unfortunately for the Swans, they’re on a four-game winless streak, including a 3-0 loss to local rivals Cardiff and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Southampton.
With the Welsh squad needing to turn things around, the club are hoping to use the January transfer window to recruit fresh blood.
Speaking about their approach to the transfer window, Swansea’s chairman Andy Coleman commented: “As we navigate the January transfer window, I want to acknowledge the challenges it presents.”
He continued: “Every club is looking to strengthen their squad, but at the same time, no club wants to lose key players. This makes it a very difficult window to navigate and get right.
“We only want to sign players who will genuinely improve our first team, which means we have to be absolutely sure about the targets we are pursuing.
“Rest assured, we are working diligently to try and make the best decisions for the team and the club’s future.”

Swansea City consider former Manchester United defender
WalesOnline has now reported that Swansea are one of several clubs looking to Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
The Netherlands international is currently a free agent after being let go by Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
Fosu-Mensah started at the Ajax academy before transferring to Old Trafford at 16 years old.
Two years later he graduated from the youth section and joined the main squad, being loaned out to Crystal Palace and Fulham during his stay with United.
The right-back made 30 appearances for The Red Devils, however, departed for good in 2021 for £1.5 million, making just as many appearances for the German giants.
Now without a club, the defender has been training with his former side Ajax to keep up his fitness.
Swansea are among several clubs who have been given the opportunity to sign Fosu-Mensah, including Stoke City, Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and QPR.
However, Blackburn have expressed concerns over the player’s fitness, pulling away from the opportunity.
