Caytie Cosplay shares stunning Spy x Family Yor cosplay to honor the proper Street Fighter 6 crossover Chun-Li costume we didn't get

Street Fighter 6 has just seen the implementation of its newest major collaboration. The latest fighting title from Capcom has crossed paths with popular manga/anime series, Spy x Family, in honor of the recent film featuring Loid, Yor, Anya, Bond, and co. entitled “Spy X Family Code: White.”

Unfortunately, this collaboration has spread disappointment throughout a large portion of Street Fighter 6’s fan base as this crossover once again focuses on avatars and gear, while neglecting the actual roster characters and the versus side of things. Prominent cosplayer Caytie Cosplay, who has produced several stunning Chun-Li cosplays in the past, has put together and shared a stunning depiction of Yor from Spy x Family to honor and share with the community the potential of the proper costume we really wanted, but did not get.

Capcom has introduced several popular collaborations with Street Fighter 6 since it’s launch in June last year, and each one has had one very important thing in common. From the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Baki the Grappler, and now Spy x Family, each of these crossovers has released additional content that focuses mainly on the World Tour avatars and doesn’t give players who want costumes for the main roster characters anything to work with.

With this latest collaboration, Capcom advertised it with a special animation featuring Yor and Chun-Li squaring off in a traditional bout, and they even created a custom in-game fight between the two to really sell it. Despite the two characters being featured prominently together in the advertisements and the fact that both warriors share a lot of similarities making a Yor costume the perfect choice for Chun-Li, nothing of the sort was released with this new DLC.

This has prompted numerous fans on Twitter to share their disappointment with this absolute fumble of a choice. There are certainly players out there who are fans of the avatars, getting gear for them, and participating in avatar battles in the Battle Hub — and there’s nothing wrong with that — but we’re three high-ticket collaborations in now and all three have alienated a major part of the game’s fan base.

To share her disappointment (and to bring joy to those who share her same view), Caytie Cosplay posted a photo of her stunning Yor cosplay on Twitter. The caption for this tweet simply reads, “What could’ve been ” and honestly, this single line perfectly encapsulates what a lot of us in the community are currently thinking.

As one would expect, Caytie does a tremendous job with this depiction of Yor. This cosplay showcases a full Yor getup (which looks fantastic), and Caytie also put in the added touch of Chun-Li’s hair buns to show what an actual in-game Yor costume for Chun in Street Fighter 6 could have looked like.

Caytie isn’t the only one who feels this way about the new collaboration either. Several other fans have shared their distaste for Capcom’s decision to not produce an actual Chun-Li costume here, and this is definitely a continuation of a deeper problem fans have had with the company’s DLC practices for Street Fighter 6 so far.

At the time of writing this, the company has released a single additional costume for the initial 18 launch roster characters in the seven months that the game has been available. The game’s first four DLC characters — Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma — won’t even be receiving theirs until Akuma launches sometime this Spring.

It is clear that Capcom is prioritizing avatars and gear over the main roster characters when it comes to additional content, and the little attention this side of the game is seeing right now is a stark difference from the Street Fighter 5 era, where additional costume packs for the main roster fighters were released regularly and were far less expensive than what we’re seeing now.

This new Spy x Family collaboration is more of the same of what we’ve been seeing with the ones that came before it, but this one is a particularly sore subject due to how perfect of a match Yor and Chun-Li are. Fans are definitely feeling like this is a total missed opportunity here — and it is — and this collaboration also acts as a reminder that the main roster characters just aren’t getting any love with these popular crossovers.

If you are interested in picking up the avatar costumes from the Spy x Family collaboration in Street Fighter 6, you can do so from now until the 31st of this month. The Yor and Loid costumes will run you 500 Drive Tickets each.
