Catholic Laity Council Of Nigeria flags off 2025 Laity Week in Anambra

The Catholic Laity Council Of Nigeria, Awka Diocese, Anambra State, has flagged-off it 2025 Laity Week.

The flagged off ceremony took place at St. Patrick Catholic church Agulu, in Anoacha local government area of the state, on Sunday.

Declaring the week open/homily sermon, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, thanked the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria for choosing the theme: “Upholding and promoting the Liturgy among Catholic” which he said was properly chosen to promote the word of God.

Bishop Ezeokafor urged people to join various parishes to be alive to the opportunities provided by this year’s 2025 Laity Week to mobilize and educate the laity as well as raise fund for the running of the Diocesan Laity Council so as to complete some ongoing project in the Diocese.

He also called on Christians to intensify their prayers for Nigeria to end challenges.

He advised parents to adopt proactive measures in training their children at home in moral and social values and to stand firm and play their roles as fathers and mothers of their children.

He also urged Christians to have fear of God while alive.

The president of the Catholic Laity of Nigeria, Awka Dioces Hon (Sir), Joseph Igwebuike, thanked the bishop for his paternal support and encouragement to the council.

He equally thanked all who contributed to the success of the program.

The programme also featured presentation of award of Excellence in the governance of Anambra State to Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Community Service Award to the Managing Director of Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, Hon Ken Eric Kenny Maduagqu, Hon Barr. Ugochukwu Ibeneme, Senator Vuctor Umeh, Dr George Muoghalu, Sir Kanayo Ughamadu, APGA National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokwnwa and Lady Jessie Ifeoma Udoka, among others.
