Capitol Hill Shooting Results in Man's Leg Injury

A man sustained a leg injury during a shooting incident and was treated at a downtown hotel, while Seattle Police launched a search for the suspect and a getaway vehicle following an altercation in the bustling Capitol Hill nightlife on Minor Ave early Sunday morning. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire outside the Still Liquor nightclub and nearby Vice Seattle around 2 AM.

Witnesses indicated that an exchange of gunfire occurred on the street outside Still, resulting in shattered glass from the building’s windows. According to updates from the East Precinct, the shooter was described as a male wearing a black hoodie and sweatpants, who fled the scene in a gray Mercedes, last seen traveling east on Pike.

Despite extensive efforts, Seattle Police were unable to locate the vehicle, and there were no immediate arrests. Officers cordoned off Minor Ave during the investigation and sought video footage from nearby surveillance cameras, including a security system at the soon-to-open Voodoo Donuts location at the corner of the block.

While no victims were found at the initial scene, police received a call from the Hyatt Regency a few blocks away, where they discovered a man with a gunshot wound to his leg. Seattle Fire personnel arrived to provide medical assistance before transporting him to Harborview Medical Center.

Additionally, a possible second victim, described as a young woman seen being carried from the vicinity of Minor and Pine, has not yet been located.

In a separate incident around 3:45 AM, police investigated another shooting involving multiple vehicles at 24th and Union. Witnesses reported gunfire south of the intersection, with vehicles fleeing the scene. Police found no victims at this location but discovered shell casings and damage to a window. A nearby resident also reported a bullet fragment found inside their home.

This surge in gun violence during Capitol Hill’s nightlife follows a tragic shooting in October on 11th Ave that resulted in the death of a 25-year-old woman. Authorities are continuing to investigate a subsequent shooting that left a man and a woman hospitalized the following morning, with shell casings from various firearms recovered at the scene.

Minor Ave has a history of nightlife-related gun violence, including a similar incident in January 2023 that also left shattered glass at the Still. Earlier this year, Mint Lounge on the Pine side of the block was permanently closed due to increasing safety concerns from surrounding businesses and local officials.

Amidst these events, the nightlife scene around Minor Ave has continued to evolve, with the recent opening of Vice Seattle beneath Melrose Market, as reported by CHS.
