We have reached the end of yet another ranked reset interval in Street Fighter 6, but things aren’t going to be quite the same for Master-level players moving forward.
Capcom announced early Friday morning that this will be the final reset that Master Rate (MR) points globally reset back to 1500. The next time this happens (presumably on February 1, 2025 given the established three month pattern) MR totals will be scaled based on where players are at at the end of the three month window.
Those who make it up to the 2200’s (which tends to be where people max out) will drop down to around 1700MR, while those who finish the “season” in the mid 1800’s can expect to start in the low 1,600’s after the reset.
Capcom offered a few sample conversions, but we can’t really tease out much of a pattern. The drop from 2200 to 1710 is 490 (about 32%) while the drop from 1850 to 1605 is 245 (about 22%).
The final conversion actually depicts a 15% increase for players who are relatively low, though we note that they will not graduate back up to the 1500MR that has traditionally been the starting base.
Ranked Match Phase 6 starts today, but we’re giving players advance notice regarding changes that will be made to the Master Rate reset design going into effect starting with Phase 7.
Your MR at the beginning of the next Phase will be scaled based on your final MR from the previous Phase.
Ex.
MR2200 → MR1710
MR1850 → MR1605
MR1200 → MR1410
If you didn’t play in the previous Phase, you will start the new Phase at MR1500.
We expect this change to improve matchmaking between players and pair them with others that are closer to their ability at the start of each new Phase. We will provide more details just before Phase 7 begins.
