Capcom is currently holding their Real Battle Hub event in Japan that allows attendees an opportunity to play as Akuma in Street Fighter 6 nearly a month before his official release date. The company fully let the cat out of the bag at Evo Japan 2024 where they unveiled Akuma’s official gameplay trailer, and after seeing what the demon can do for the first time, fans are now getting their chance to try him out themselves.
There has been a lot of speculation on what Akuma might be capable of in Street Fighter 6, and though we did get a gameplay trailer, there were still some big questions players wanted answers too such as what Modern controls might do for his Raging Demon Critical Art. A lot of fans were under the impression that Modern would grant Akuma a “one-button” Raging Demon — which is an incredibly scary thought — and Capcom has now heard enough people sharing this claim that they have come forward to address it first-hand.
In Street Fighter 6, players have the option of choosing between three different control styles: Classic, Modern, and Dynamic. The first two can be used in actual competitive modes, with Classic being what traditional fighting game fans are used to and Modern offering simplified controls that do away with the complicated inputs fighting game moves often use.
Part of the Modern control type is the ability to perform super attacks with the click of a single button and most times a single directional input. For example, instead of having to perform two quarter circle forward motions and a punch for a level 1 super like you would in Classic, you’d only have to hit forward + a punch to get your super to come out in Modern — albeit for 20% less damage.
All of that having been said, fans were worried using Modern controls for Akuma in Street Fighter 6 would ultimately make it so that he could perform his Shun Goku Satsu (Raging Demon) in the same manner. Traditionally, Akuma’s Raging Demon input is more complex than a stand super requiring the user to hit light punch, light punch, forward, light kick, heavy punch in that order to properly perform the attack.
Despite Capcom releasing the Modern controls command list for Akuma’s supers in Street Fighter 6 yesterday, it appears that fans are still thinking that Akuma has a one-button Raging Demon in Street Fighter 6. He does not, and Capcom released the following statement to clear up the misinformation:
“Since yesterday (1st of May) we’ve had the Real Battle Hub where players can try Akuma and a new version of the game, the “one-button Shun Goku Satsu” in modern controls does not exist.
Below, we will correct some other misinformation that has spread.
SA3: Sip of Calamity
CA: Sip of Calamity (More efficient than SA3, activates when life is below 25%)
Shun Goku Satsu: Can be activated when life is below 25% by doing a special input
*The CA will not automatically become Shun Goku Satsu”

On top of the one-button Raging Demon not being a real thing, Capcom also cleared up another misconception some fans had after Akuma’s gameplay trailer was released. Akuma does indeed have a standard level 3 super with its own Critical Art version, and the Raging Demon is its own standalone super that can be activated when his health drops below 25%.
Some believed the Raging Demon took the place of Akuma’s standard Critical Art, but it does not.
Akuma and the big Season 2 set of balance changes are slated for release on May 22.
