We’ve been covering and updating the ongoing 5th Topanga Championship with results as some of the absolute best competitors in Japan clash in Round Robin Street Fighter 6 action.
Sponsor teammates IBSG|Kakeru and IBSG|Cosa met during the initial portion of the competition and had about as close a match as possible as both contenders brought their foe down to just a sliver of health. We have footage of the climactic round and challenge you to see if you can tell who actually has more life in their bar before you see the final result.
It seems Kakeru has made the official switch from JP to Akuma as he’s been all in with the game’s newest DLC character since the start of this year’s Topanga competition. He and his demonic counterpart locked horns with Cosa and his Ken, and found were trailing in the third and final round of their fourth game.
Down in Critical Art territory (implying a health bar below 25%) and with just 20 seconds left on the game timer, Kakeru quickly finds himself in dire straits as Cosa still has about 75% health remaining on his side.
A crucial conversion gets the party started, but shaves a full 10 seconds off the clock while only getting his foe down to about half health. A throw later, Kakeru gets Cosa to 4,701 hit points.
How do we know this number with such precision? After just barely surviving a Dragon Punch, Kakeru lands the single more damaging attack in all of Street Fighter 6: Akuma’s Raging Demon.
This move does a flat 4,700 damage, and looks as though it’ll be just enough to end the round. Cosa actually survives with what has to be just one health point left in the tank, and with five seconds still on the clock after Demon here’s how the end of the round plays out:
