Lisandro Martinez became a fan favourite at Manchester United for his tenacity, commitment, and technical quality.
The Argentine centre-back approaches every game with a fiery passion, playing games as though it’s his last.
His ball-playing ability is among the best in the league, making him a key figure in United’s progression from the back.
However, Martinez’s recent poor display against Spurs in the EFL Cup has raised questions about his long-term suitability under Ruben Amorim’s system.
The match saw him make a poor clearance that led to Spurs’ second goal, gifting the ball to Dejan Kulusevski, and then failing to deal with a long ball over the top before being beaten by Dominic Solanke for the third.
Critics, including Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville, have highlighted these errors, pointing to weaknesses that Martinez must address to secure his place in Amorim’s plans.
