Campaign: Group donates N30million to APC Guber candidate, others in Cross River
A socio-political group under the aegis of The Victory Group has donated 30 million naira (N30,000,000) to Prince Bassey Otu, All Progressives Congress, APC’s governorship candidate and others in Cross River State to aid them to carry out their campaign which is starting later this month.
According to the group, N5million cash and campaign materials were donated to the Governorship Candidate, Prince Bassey Otu; N4.5million cash and campaign materials for each Senatorial Candidate; N1.5million cash and campaign materials for each House of Reps Candidate; while the balance assigned for campaign materials is to be donated to all APC support groups.
Speaking during the presentation of the cheque to Prince Otu at the group’s new secretariat on Saturday, September 17, 2022, in Calabar, Joseph Edet (aka La’Shakara), Director-General of The Victory Group said the group is made up of Governor Ben Ayade’s young descendants who are intertwined with the best hands to deliver the APC in 2023.
He said the donation was as a commitment for them to see APC to victory, adding that their support doesn’t end in material things but morally as well. “We have agreed to mobilise for victory, and as a matter of fact; ours is not to collect but to donate and support your candidacy to victory – as our name implies. We have coordinators in all the 18 local government areas. Whenever you need us, please call us”, Edet said while addressing the APC guber candidate and others.
In his response, the APC Governorship Candidate, Prince Bassey Otu said: “I am very happy to be here and looking at this group, I make bold to say that you are a carefully selected lot who have set a goal of delivering power to the party. That amount is huge and we will make good use of it
“I want to specially thank Governor Ayade for the youths and women inclusive kind of governance; for that is the basis on which we are all here today. I will continue to build in terms of capacity, and strengthen our youths and women to take us to the next level.
“We want to improve Cross River State and make it a place where everyone would want to visit and invest; but in achieving this, we have to learn forgiveness, bury hatchets and work together.”

Maria Akwaji assured Otu of positive results at the polls. “Our dear sweet Prince, we are excited to have you in our midst today; we really appreciate your humility and commitment. You have enjoyed massive acceptance with love from the people and we believe that your capacity – both past and present will ensure victory”, Akwaji said.
On her part, the Director-General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong, said “The Victory Group is a collection of those who are committed to adding value.
