In reaction to a social media thread made yesterday 11 July by Cross River ace social commentator, Prince Thomas Abi Jr., the former APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2015 general elections in the state, Mr Odey Ochicha, has sued for a type of leadership that is transformational as opposed to a transactional type leadership. According to Ochicha, it's the transformational style of leadership that is the sine qua non to the development of Cross River.

In the early part of his remarks, Ochicha posited that security of life and property was a collective business not just the responsibility of government. He suggested to those with criminal tendencies to ask Jesus Christ into their lives reiterating that nobody could fight against his nation, state, community, society, etc and win.

In his words, 'Security like safety is everybody's business. Let's support governments at all levels to ensure security in our dear state and beloved country'.

'Any citizen with criminal tendencies should drop his evil plans and seek our Lord Jesus Christ who is the way, the truth and our life. And without Christ, we get crises. Let's embrace Christ in order to have life and happiness', he preached. Continuing in his civil sermon Ochicha explained that, 'Nobody, I repeat, nobody can fight his family, community, state, country or the world and win. Where is Osama Bin Laden? Body thrown into the sea for fishes to feed on. Galatians 6:7 is clear. Whatever a man soweth, he reaps. Let's be guided….'.

In another reaction the gubernatorial candidate further highlighted the negative consequences of insecurity in view of development:
' And folks, let's note that insecurity impedes rapid progress and accelerated development of any state or nation. We need peace to develop and be world class like other advanced nations'.

'Please let's think and act peace because peace is priceless and violence is senseless so that we can take our rightful place in the comity of nations. For me, Cross River should be the best state in Nigeria and Nigeria should be the best nation in Africa and one of the best nations in the world, a member of G7, G20 and UN Security Council representing Africa', Ochicha quipped.

Finally, he revealed that poverty was supposed to be alien to the state, noting that with transformational type as opposed to transactional style of leadership will get to the class of developed nations. His words, 'We have no business being poor but should be living like Kings and Princes. We are too rich to be poor because we have the best of everything but need Godly, visionary, inspiring, effective, quality, and transformational and NOT transactional leadership to make it to top class of developed nations. God bless Nigeria'.
