Calabar monarch confers chieftaincy titles on Gov Otu’s Chief of Staff, SA, others

The Paramount ruler of Calabar South local government area, His Royal Majesty Etubom Nyong Effiom Okon Etim Ewa 1, has conferred chieftaincy titles on distinguished individuals, including the Chief of Staff to Cross River State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Ironbar, the Special Adviser  to the Governor on General Duties, Barr Ekpenyong Akiba, member representing Calabar South 1 in the State House of Assembly, Hon Effiong Ekarika, among 12 others.

The honor, part of the monarch’s 3rd coronation anniversary, recognizes their contributions to the local government’s growth.

During the ceremony held on Tuesday at Henshaw Town Council Ground,   the monarch emphasized the importance of upholding the dignity and honor associated with their new titles while encouraging his chiefs to actively participate in the local government’s development.

As he conferred the titles, he  remarked that earning a title in Calabar South is a significant achievement, one that should be cherished with dignity and respect.

He reminded the newly conferred Chiefs of the considerable responsibilities accompanying their new roles and urged them to serve as exemplary ambassadors for the local government.

He emphasized the need to prioritize peace and stability within Calabar South, the state, and their local communities to attract genuine investors to the area.

The monarch also encouraged the new chiefs to promote the rich cultural heritage of the  people and to assist the government in maintaining peace and stability throughout the state.

Barr Ekpenyong Akiba dedicated his title – Otuekong of Calabar South to Governor Bassey Otu, crediting his leadership for fostering grassroots development. He pledged continued dedication to the progress of not only Calabar South but the state in general, emphasizing the need for unity and support for the state government’s initiatives.

“This award stands as acknowledgement of our contributions and effort to support the governor’s vision in the state and also show that we are representing our people meaningfully.

“This will only motivate me to do more for not only Calabar South, but Cross River State in general.

The Paramount ruler highlighted the importance of community development and launched a  fundraising project  “I stand revolution” an evidence based drug use prevention and community  best intervention.

The event, attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, and political figures, celebrated the recipients’ impact on the community and reaffirmed their roles in its ongoing transformation.
