On Thursday 11 August, a video clip and a set of pictures went viral. In the said video was one Bassey Ubom, a Professor of Environmental Science in the University of Abuja who was obviously returning from Abuja and plied the Calabar-Itu federal road. Professor Ubom was interviewed by an anonymous fellow behind the camera and he narrated the incidence of how he got stucked in the mud.
'I for die… Calabar-Itu road wan kill me…ooooooo! Cross River State and federal governments… Ntoor!!! What are you people waiting for? …This is man's inhumanity to man and total annihilation of the downtrodden.
Definitely the Almighty God will emancipate the poor masses powerfully. Dariz God… Oooooooo!', Professor Ubom narrated his experience on his Facebook account.
Idoho Silas, one of his students lamented that, 'My Professor/lecturer, fell into mud at Odukpani road in Cross River State'.
Reports making the rounds indicate that the contract for the construction of the Calabar-Itu federal road has been awarded by the federal government.
