Cross River State Commissioner For Health, Dr Inyang Asibong has been adjudged as the best performing Commissioner of the year 2018 by the Nigeria Media Award Group.
Speaking after receiving the award, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong thanked the organizers and said the award is a reflection of what the Ministry has done under the supervision of his Excellency, Prof. Ben Ayade.
“We are very happy to receive this award especially coming from the group who are the watchdog of the society to know what we are doing in far away Cross River where pregnant women and children not older than five years get free medical care with new hospitals springing up across the State, including hard to reach areas, existing hospitals are being renovated and equipped, state-of-the-art medical equipments are being procured, health officers are being trained and retrained, accreditations have been secured for hitherto unaccredited training institutions.
“The Governor has challenged all of us in the health cluster in ensuring that open defication is reduced, maternal and mortality index rate curbed and provide basic health care services to all the citizens.”
The organiser of the event, Sola Adegbemiro and Eng. Kunle Adebayo while presenting the award said Cross River Commissioner for Health was voted as the “Most Performing Commissioner Of The Year” following a competitive poll across the country as a result of the achievements and programmes of the State in the health sector development.
The award ceremony which came against the background of several other awards received by the Ministry of Health under Dr. Asibong took place at the Lagos Airport Hotel and Suites, Ikeja.
