Butte College football travels to Shasta under the lights Saturday

REDDING — On nearly every Saturday, the Butte College football team would be playing a midday matchup with a start time of 1 p.m.

However, this afternoon, the Roadrunners will travel to Shasta College in Redding to face the Knights with a 6 p.m. kickoff. Due to the late start time of the game, the results will be printed in Monday’s newspaper but available early Sunday morning on chicoer.com for digital readers.

“Even back to my playing days at Butte, Shasta has always held their Saturday home games at 6 o’clock instead of 1 o’clock,” said Butte College head coach Robby Snelling. “Not sure why … maybe it has to do with travel and giving teams extra time because they’re so far north. For us, it doesn’t matter much one way or the other.”

The Roadrunners enter Saturday night’s game against Shasta (3-3, 1-1 NorCal Conference) tied for No. 6 in the state rankings, with a record of 6-1 and 1-1 in NorCal Conference play, and are coming off a 31-30 loss to American River. Butte plays at Feather River College (0-7, 0-2 NCC) at 1 p.m. Nov. 9, before concluding its regular season schedule at 1 p.m. Nov. 16 at home against Sierra (4-3, 2-0 NCC) on sophomore day.
