Reptile’s absence from Mortal Kombat 11 was felt by many fans, though probably not to the same extent as Mileena before she was added as a DLC fighter. Needless to say, Reptile’s reveal for Mortal Kombat 1 garnered a ton of hype.
Unfortunately, Reptile has been toned down considerably since his appearances in Mortal Kombat 9 and Mortal Kombat X. However, Reptile fans are apparently in for a treat with the upcoming patch that will make Ermac available for Early Access starting on April 16.
During the latest Ermac trailer, there was a brief moment in which Ermac was fighting against Reptile. Fans immediately noticed that Reptile has a few new tricks from this brief scene.
As seen in the trailer, Reptile can now cancel out of his Falling Fangs aerial special while remaining invisible for a short period. Falling Fangs typically requires a big commitment from the player as it is quite unsafe on block, but this additional option should give Reptile some extra tricky mix ups.
Additionally, it would appear that Reptile now has an Enhanced Acid Spit projectile that actually travels full screen. It’s being speculated that this will be an alternative option for Enhance Acid Spit where Reptile effectively pukes acid in a close proximity that the player can access via a unique set of inputs.
Evidently, Reptile will be receiving a little attention with the upcoming patch. Some buffs are certainly needed at this point since Reptile is often viewed as one of the game’s low tiers in the current meta.
While Reptile did have this brief moment in the sunlight, Ermac and Mavado were still the stars of the trailer, so Reptile wasn’t allowed to actually hit Ermac during any of these sequences. Regardless, this is a pretty nifty way for NetherRealm Studios to tease some future adjustments.
